THE FORGOTTEN COVENANT

PART THREE – The Return of the Keepers and the whisperers among us

Olákàyọ̀dé was not like the healers of old. He had not been raised in the wild, nor taught by spirits, but he had the hunger of a man seeking lost wisdom. He read the Odu Ifá, the truth struck him like thunder.

If animals suffer, men will follow.

Determined to restore the forgotten knowledge, he traveled from Ile-Ife to Dahomey, from the forests of Owu to the deserts of Sokoto, teaching what had long been lost—that the fate of beasts and men was forever intertwined. Centuries later, when the Western world arrived with their books and medicines, they did not bring anything new. They only revived what the Yorubas have always known.

Now, veterinary medicine stands as both a science and a calling. The whispers of Orunmila fill lecture halls. The potions of Osanyin have become vaccines. The hoof-care of Sango’s warriors has become orthopedic surgery. But deep in the forests, in the untouched places where the wind still carries the voices of the gods, some say the spirit of Olúkàyọ̀dé, the Whisperer of Beasts, still lingers, watching those who truly listen to the animals.

And if you ever find yourself in the quiet of the wild, if you listen past the rustling trees and the distant cries of the night, you may still hear the voice of Osanyin, carried by the wind:

"Heal them, and they shall heal you."

The Gods do not forget. They never do

Their whispers still roam the earth, searching for ears that can hear, for hands that can heal. And when the time is right, they will choose again.

And now, at last, they have chosen again. Somewhere within the four walls of COLVET FUNAAB, a new Whisperer walks unnoticed. He does not yet know what he is. He does not yet understand the power stirring in his blood. But the signs are there—animals that calm in his presence, diseases that fade when he speaks, knowledge that comes to him as if whispered by unseen voices.

Who is he?

You know.

You and the gods.

And when the time comes, they will reveal you.

They always do.
