A New Chapter

A New Chapter Begins at COLVET FUNAAB

On Wednesday, 17 September 2025, the College of Veterinary Medicine (COLVET), Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, inaugurated its new set of executives in the presence of the Deputy Dean of the College, Prof. F. C. Thomas, alongside members of the outgoing leadership.

The ceremony, held at the College Boardroom, provided a welcoming and well-prepared atmosphere befitting the occasion.

Proceedings began with an opening prayer led by Comrade Akinsaya Joshua. Although the outgoing President was unavoidably absent and the welcome address was skipped, the Deputy Dean delivered opening remarks that set a firm tone for the day. She commended the outgoing executives for their service and achievements, while charging the incoming team to sustain high standards, remain visionary, and maintain balance between academics and leadership.

As part of the programme, both the outgoing and incoming executives, along with AVMSIEC officials, introduced themselves to the gathering. Later, the outgoing President, Treasurer, and General Secretary arrived, adding to the significance of the moment as they were recognised for their leadership and service.

The highlight of the event was the formal swearing-in of the new executives. Certificates of meritorious service were presented to the outgoing leaders, after which both sets of executives participated in a group photograph to mark the transition.

In his inaugural address, the new President, Comrade Babatunde Samuel, delivered a reflective and impactful speech, emphasising the principle of servant-leadership. His statement, “Leaders are servants,” resonated strongly, underlining the commitment of the new administration to service and excellence.

The event concluded with a closing prayer led by the outgoing Treasurer, Comrade Dawodu Haleemah, followed by further photographs that sealed the day’s memories.

The inauguration was more than a handover of duties; it marked the continuation of a legacy and the beginning of a new chapter in COLVET’s leadership journey.
