THE FORGOTTEN COVENANT

PART ONE – The Gods Make a Choice

There was a time when animals and humans lived without fear of each other. The earth was young, the rivers clear, and the forests thick with secrets. But suffering crept in, slow like the harmattan breeze—cattle fell sick, horses limped, even the wild beasts groaned in pain.

The gods watched from the heavens. Orunmila, the one who sees all, called for a gathering. Ogun, the iron warrior, sat sharpening his blade. Osanyin, the master of herbs, crushed leaves between his fingers. Sango, restless as always, leaned against his axe, waiting.
Olodumare, the Supreme One, broke the silence.

"These creatures suffer. But who among you will teach men to care for them?"

The gods exchanged glances. The affairs of men and beasts did not often concern them.
Then, from the shadows, Osanyin spoke.

"Give me a man who listens to the wind, who understands the heart of a beast, and I will teach him the secrets of healing."

And so, the gods sent their wisdom down to earth, and from among men, a child was chosen.
His name was Olúkàyọ̀dé, the Whisperer of Beasts.
